In June 2026, Elsewhere welcomed the Sahitya Akademi Award–winning writer Jerry Pinto for a conversation with Ravi Singh, Publisher at Speaking Tiger, around his latest book, A Good Life: The Power of Palliative Care. Recipient of Yale’s Windham-Campbell Prize for Fiction and author of Em and the Big Hoom and The Education of Yuri, among others, Pinto spoke of arriving, through the writing, at a wider understanding of palliative care — as support for anyone living with a life-limiting condition, not only those near the end.

Long admired too for carrying major Marathi and Hindi writers into English, he told the room: “Translation allows us to enter other lives and experiences. Without it, we remain isolated.”
