On April 19, 2025, Elsewhere invited the Kashmir-based Gaekhir Republik, a progressive folk rock band to Chandigarh. The band was founded in 2019 by Sarfaraz Javid and Suhail Ahmad and with Mohsin Hassan joining as the lead guitarist in the fall of 2020. In the year 2021, the band released two singles, ’14th Lunar’ and ‘Fikri Pyous’. These tracks garnered attention for their unique sound and storytelling.
The band’s debut album, ‘Mandnyan Shaam‘, was released in October 2023 and received critical acclaim for its innovative blend of folk, rock and psychedelic influences, alongside its poignant lyrical themes. In February 2024, Gaekhir Republik released a music video for ‘Jazz Ahmad Jazz‘, one of the tracks from the album. ‘Gaekhir Republik’ comprises Sarfaraz Javid on Lead vocals, Suhail Ahmad on bass/acoustic guitar/ backing vocals and Mohsin Hassan on Lead Guitar/Rabab and backing vocals.
